Spares availability
Just about to do the deed and buy a 164 (1969 Manual). Please can you advise what the spares situation is like for the 164 model.

Well done if going for a 164. Given your location I think I know this cars owner - a nice navy blue car.
Obviously not as easy to get bits for as a Morris Minor or MGB, but they are an entirely different type of vehicle (and ride!). However, if a stately carriage is your desire, unless you can afford to go into Jaguar or Mercedes territory you have little choice. Consumables are not too bad to get hold of, its the other things..... I had to wait over a year to find decent 164 front seats for sale (at a high price), and front wings/panel being unique are also rare. However, sills and spare wheel troughs are the same as Volvo 240 parts so no problem. Check the Skandix or CVI Volvo Parts websites to look at what can be supplied new: second hand stuff sometimes about - I have a couple of spares 164s in addition to the cars I have on the road, so you won't be stranded. Good luck with your purchase. Paul |

Thanks - a nicely prepared car and from speaking with its owner last year a long-term member of his family. If you get it I do hope it is all that you expect it to be, and can keep it in such a stunning bright condition.
