Default Belts and Doors message

Hi All,

First time poster and first time Volvo owner! I’ve today taken drivers of a Volvo V40 (2016) today and have noticed a belts and Doors message that keeps coming up. I can clear it, but the red triangle remains and the message stays in the i section...

None of the doors are open, and the red illumination is over the bonnet, which is also closed fine. I’ve raised it with the dealer, just waiting for someone to get back to me. Any ideas?

Peter

The display is showing that the bonnet is not closed properly. I assume you have tried opening and closing the bonnet to make sure it is properly closed.
As you have just bought the car I should let the Volvo dealer sort it.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I’ve opened and closed the bonnet several times, but the message doesn’t go anywhere.

Common fault, the microswitch just needs a squirt of electrical contact cleaner or WD40, followed by some vigorous clicking up and down. Dearler should sort it.

Default belts and doors message

I used WD40 on the hood release and really soaked it on the trunk latch. It appears I solved the problem.
