some help please..
I'm looking to buy a v70. Saw this one http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/900317.htm. When I get insurance quote using registration no it comes up as a 2.4 LPT. After searching this forum I seem to find that the AWD model only came with a 193bhp lpt engine.. Does this mean the car is not "the ultimate factory version" with 265 bhp? Or that it is boosted higher by aftermarket fiddeling (is that reliable)? It all confused me a bit, as ad states it is original, and then it comes up as a LPT, wich from my research is outputting 193 not 265 bhp..
Any help or comments would be appreciated... If it is boosted higher, would I have to inform the insurance and pay more? (I'm looking for a v70 T5 (or v70 diesel), so if you see a great one feel free to PM me..) Thanks GT |

I would say that is defo an R and not a normal AWD that's been boosted as it has a R interior including the blue dials, wheels and front splitter etc. The infomation given by DVLA when it comes to trim levels is usually wrong, i.e. on my car's V5 it say's I own a V70 AWD CD when there was no such model, the AWD was a model in it's own right.
This specific car looks like a good example and I'd go have a look if I was you. that's if your actually intrested in it that is

Great! Thanks for info!
I see you own one, how is fuel economy on the AWD compared to FWD? Is there anything specific to look for when buying? It is a bit over my budget.. but is tempting! |

Quote:
if you do go to av' a look, check for signs of even tyre wear as it might be a sign of a worn AWD system also check all the accessable suspension bits fear wear and tear and to be honest the money is right on as these phase 3 models are very sort after as they only made them for a few months

I'm sure the AWD is worth the money. Just a bit to high price for my budget... I would have to at least bargain it down to 2500, which would be a hard challenge.. I just bought a T5 from pistonheads. 83000 miles, and in pretty good condition. Picked it up yesterday. I'm so happy I did not go for a diesel now... T5 is so much fun! Thanks for your advice and you seem to be right about fuel consumption, they are not frugal are they..

By the way, I'm looking for a fob for a 97 v70 now, as the car I bought only came with one.. Anyone got a spare or old one?
Thanks GT |

hope your happy with the car, but to get the fob you'll need to go to your local Volvo dealer as each fob is unique to each car (I believe) about £15 for the Fob but you need it programing
