Default how to install a new SIM card?

I have found out the location of the little black "cupboard" in the passenger footwell. I have prized open the door and now cannot see how the extra SIM is fitted. The user manual shows the SIM enclosure but does not show how or where the SIM fits into the socket or slot. There is a black plastic lump but that is all.

Thanks for any comments.

After opening the door you should find a plastic tray that can be removed. Install the SIM in the tray and push it back in.

A very nice young lady at the dealers installed mine for me and although she was used to it she found it quite difficult. In the XC90 it is in the boot and far easier to access.

I had to use a teenager to install mine in my V90CC.
Many kind people on this forum have suggested much better value data packages than I currently have, but it’s so much of a bugger to change the SIM I’ve not bothered...

Thanks for all your comments, one query still.

The Volvo On Call SIM that enables contact with the emergency services and the Volvo On Call App where is that one located? - is it in the plastic tray - so the plastic tray holds two SIMS, one for private use and one for On Call etc.?

I would not want the VOC functions to be moved to the SIM I am about to add to the car

A pity some the illustrations in the handbook are so incomplete.

The VOC sim is built into the car and I don't think it can be removed by the user.

As long as the car has a stable internet connection, the VOC functions are moved to that one. Whenever that internet source is not available anymore, the VOC is switched back.

Default Activate a new SIM

I have a question not in fitting the SIM to the car, but activating the SIM.

I've got a 3 Sim with legs as mentioned on the forum previously. I need to activate it with 3. Do I need to put the SIM in an old phone to do this or can it be done via the car?

I have an old Nokia with the correct SIM card slot which I have kept for this purpose, but having just put the new SIM in it is not recognised by the phone.

Does anyone do the activation in the car?
