Default starter motor

I think i'm going to replace the starter motor as mine is a bit hesitant at times but can't seem to find a part number.

Can anyone send me a link for genuine volvo parts so I can get a part number please?

It's for a 2003 2.0T petrol.

Thanks.

If you don't have Vida, this site is good for finding parts.

Electrics > Starter

You'll need to know the engine code and box type to ensure accuracy.

Personally I'd say aftermarket ones available are just as good as any 'genuine' ones that will be knocking about used or refurbished, I'd imagine the original one they used would have been made by Bosch or something anyway.

Skandix is a great site for part number identification!

Thanks for that, saw a picture of a light bulb and didn't go any further!

So now I put in the relevant details of B4204T3 and M56 and it brings up two starter motors. One is 1.1kw and the other is 1.4kw but they look like different fittings so am still confused!

They both have fittings in the same place but one has 3 bolts and the other has 2 bolts and a locating dowel.
You'll need to get familiar with removal and refitting anyway so I'd be taking a look at what's currently fitted for more clues.
My guess is that a 2.0 would more likely need the 1.4kW which is conveniently cheaper but obviously check.

There are starter testing and complete refurbishment videos on my YouTube channel if you want to diagnose and repair rather than buying a replacement.

With regards to removal/replacement of the starter motor does the manifold need to be removed first?

Thanks for all the advice, although it turned out to be a knackered battery!
