Default V70 T5 Exhaust Replacement

Hello everyone
I need to replace my exhaust silencer as it is leaking and quiet noisy
My car is a V70 T5 2004 (54, 11/2004) post Facelift

I (ahem) found this on ebay

according to the specifications it should fit on my 2004 however i was once told by a volvo dealer that as a post facelift it is considered a 2005 (true?)
which means that it is not compatibe, i went today to a volvo part dealer and confirmed to me that the silencer is different than the older models and i would need silencer part number 30672329 (£400+),

I contacted the seller to ask if it is compatible and he sent me beck

"Hello
Sorry for late relpy we had a lot of work.

Please let me know does Your car has chrome tailpipe or not. If has this wil be suitable to Your car.

Regards

P.Bash

using the link he gave me i put in my specs with year 2004 i got this. It is very confusing as it says construction year: 04/04 - 09/04 but on the top it says VOLVO V70 04/04 - 08/07, the OEM part number is different then mine too,

question is considering that according to volvo i will need a different silencer would it be bad if i use this one? as it has the same middle pipe and the same engine (B5244T5) so what could possibly go wrong?

thank you

Check the 10th digit in your VIN. It tells you the model year, that is, what you should put in in search forms.

In general Volvo normally has its model year "cut" around august (I asume company holidays?). So cars manufactured from 09 (Sep) to 07 (Jul) are one model year. November 04 is normally a MY05.

You can check your VIN with this spreadsheet: https://www.volvoclub.org.uk/vin_70.shtml

Thank you
Now, say I will install the 'wrong' exhaust will my car blow up on the motorway?

The supplier claims it will fit the 260hp B5244T5 2004 so I don't really see how it could be bad
I just have the feeling that the difference is a stupid enhancement which has no impact,

I do not claim to be knowledgeable in mechanics that is why I am seeking advice from the experts

From the research I have done previously. I believe the petrol turbo cat back are all the same.

The difference is the NA is of a smaller diameter.

BUT I haven't had two exhausts side by side to give you 100% correct answer.

What's the last six digits of the vin. Vida says before 424999 it's part 8638532

Vin 425000 T5 onwards is 30672339

You need to get some advice from a supplier either Volvo or a really good independent, you would be ill advised to fit an incorrect part or non-equivalent.

If the back box is wrong it may not allow the same rate of flow of exhaust gasses as the correct box (Volvo part number 30672329 for your B5244T5 engine) in which case it might "strangle" the breathing of the engine and reduce performance - If I were you I'd contact a friendly Volvo dealer eg FRF and ask them what the differences are.
Vida states where CH is the change point
