Default Building a B30

I'm going to be building a replacement engine for the 164 i've just purchased as the engine is a bit tired. I have a recon marine B30 short engine as a starting point and have got a Spare TE engine as a donor, If i'm using the later head and cam does anyone have any suggestions as to the best carb setup. Should i stick with the Strombergs or is there any benefit in trying to track down a 3 SU manifold?

The TE will be that later metric engine. Best to stick with earlier parts.

As for carbs, you want these:

Would love to go to triple webers! That 164 sounds lovely, can't really justify the cost though. How do i tell if the spare short engine i have is a metric engine or not? When did they change so i know the type of engine to use as a donor. The engine in the car is usable but tired so the replacement engine will be being built while i'm still using the vehicle so using the existing engine as a donor isn't an option

I think (not 100% sure) that imperial engine has 6 bolts on the flywheel, metric has 8.

Sounds about right, it's certainly the same way to tell on the B20's...

Dave,

Don't bin them! If you're giving, then I'll gladly accept - thank-you. Are you going to the Northern BKV at Wetherby by any chance?
