S40 radio not working

i need some advice please.
my volvo s40 diesel 2007 radio system is not working at all.Just driving one day then switch on the radio but its not working at all.no sound or not switching on .my reverse parking sensor is not working now as well.
brought the car to volvo garage and they said they cannot find the fault.They suggested otherwise to buy a new unit..any ideas guys why radio and parking sensor has gone off?volvo garage quoted me around £700..and it has to be new unit as well because of the code...etc..thanks in advance

Parking sensor sound comes through the stereo system's amplifier to the speakers

So if stereo system is dead, parking sound is also non operational
