Default 2008 S40 AUX Port Problem

Does anyone know what the connector is in the attached image? (circled)

I have an aux port built in and isn't working.

I'm planning to take the whole armrest off to see if anything isn't plugged in properly.

I had a quick look under the compartment just behind the gear stick. I found this not plugged in. Relevant?

Thanks in advance!

I've a feeling that's for a usb port.
Has the Aux port just stopped working ?

Hm interesting. I bought the car and it wasn't working when I got it.

It's recently had a service and the garage found the front cigarette lighter was unplugged.

I found the attached image online (supposedly for BMW's) which shows the aux with an end that looks like it'd fit the cable in my first photo. Very strange if I find it just isn't plugged in!

The most common place to connect an auxiliary 12v supply for sat nav, phone etc is the cig lighter, so not unusual. It's also common for the aux socket to be disturbed or not recognised by the stereo.
Does aux show up on stereo menu ?

I took apart the centre console today and couldn't find anything obvious. Super irritating.

I have a 'mode' button, but pressing it only selects CD. Doesn't even show the option AUX. Makes me think it hasn't been programmed in or something.

There's your problem.
I can't recall the solution to this off hand but a search on here should bring up some suggestions.
