Sadly, it was probably genuine.
Why, just this afternoon I watched as two East European blokes used sealant on the doors of their Passat (what else ?) before pumping 600 litres in through the open sunroof....before clambering in, complete with scuba gear.
You couldn't make it up.

Other Craziness.....

That does rather confirm it was all just down to panic buying - the problem went away as soon as everyone had filled up their cars, jerry cans and child's paddling pool in the boot. I don't think the panic buying was anything particularly British, it is just down to most people (everywhere) being selfish.

I don't even think blaming central government for every little blip is a particularly British thing - I remember that Germans, the Dutch and Americans did exactly the same when I lived in each of those countries.

It is good that everything is back to normal where you are.

All this proves the truth of the old adage: civilised society is three meals away from total anarchy.

Our V60 and V70 both had nearly full tanks just before people went mad, and we aren't driving a lot just now, so I've been able to be an outside observer all the way through.

I haven't seen any silliness from drivers, but the local Tesco filling station has run out of diesel. Their sign, however, is just at the entrance to the filling station and not on the road. So drivers queue for a long period of time onto the site and up to the entrance to the filling station only to find that they've queued for nothing.

That would p*ss me off!

Seems the panic is continuing back home.

And the one that there is enough in the world for everyone's need, but not everyone's greed.

Bottled waters have been in short/sporadic supply for a couple of months now, but nobody leaked it (sorry) to the press and we just carry on buying an alternative or managing without.
