Default S40 (2003) new key fob, part#30662327

I've lost the only key to my beloved S40 (I know, what an idiot, right?) and I'm told that Volvo doesn't manufacture this any more - it's a 2003 model. The garage said they can only program a new fob, not a used one, if I can find one on the internet.
Can anyone help?

If you cant get a replacement key from Volvo, then there is no point getting a second hand, as you would need to program ithe immobiliser chip to the ECU and also program the small lock/unlock electronic board to the receiver module. And you can only do that with a new key, and with a code that comes with it. Not a used key

Probably the best and cheapest way, would be to get a complete locket, where you can swap the ECU, immobiliser module, lock alarm module, steering column lock barrel, door lock, boot lock and glovebox lock. The good thing with this is that it will just work, with no need for any programming at all

You just need to make sure it comes from a car with the exact same engine as yours. Locksets range from £60-£120, depending which engine and whether they come with one or two keys

Which engine so you have?

if i were you i would Phone a Different main dealer

yes they can only be done when brand new , they are right you can not reprogram a 2nd hand one,

you Will need to visit Eitehr
a main dealer
an indy with Vida/live subscription
to get the new fob coded to the car as it Needs a direct link to Volvo Sweden's servers to do it

looking at £100-£120 for A key/remote + coding to the car

Also make Sure they REMOVE all the OLD keys from the car, so IF its found by a scrote/has been stolen by one it Can not start the car (it will be able to Open the car using the backup metal key)
