Default Please help with my towbar problem

I have the genuine Volvo towbar 31269496 from my 2012 model V70 and thought I would be able to fit it to the 2016 model. Most of the aftermarket towbar sites seems to say that V70s from 2008 onwards all use the same towbar, volvo are saying that models post 2014 are different.

Whilst I understand that Volvo say that I need part no 31359602, having downloaded the PDF instructions for both years from the Volvo Accessories website, they seem identical and even use the same drawings.

Can anyone tell me if there are any changes – or if the new part number relates to a minor change in type approval number or something similar.
I know it might be easy for my dealer to say that I need to pay £735 for a brand new set-up, it is a lot of money to shell out of my own pocket each time the company changes my car, so if I can minimize the costs as much as poss, I would be really grateful.

Whilst I would prefer to have my old one recoded, if I have to replace the TRM, it is not the end of the world, but I really can’t afford the £375 just for the new towbar particularly if, as I suspect, I can get away with the old one.

Many thanks

The changers are more to do with bumper design been face lifted i think altho there isn't a massive amount of differance in bumpers shape wise,
