Faulty Alarm System.
I drive a S60 2016 model and the warning light has come on informing that the alarm system is faulty and needs a service, recently the front and rear lights have started to flash when i lock the doors and today the alarm went off when i entered the drivers door. This car is volvo no 7 for me although the first s60 as i had driven s40s and in all my years i have never encountered this problem before. At the moment the car battery warning light is indicating low charge, could this be adding to the faulty alarm i do need some sound advice to solve this, thanks Lawnmower man.

This could be the battery pack within the alarm on their way out. From other posts regarding the alarm, it’s a sealed system that needs one of two approaches.
1. Replace the alarm or 2. Replace the batteries. 1. Here you could buy thru volvo but Ford do seem to be the producers of alarms at a certain point in volvo production, there are usually some available thru online auction sites. 2. There are a couple of UTube vids, showing the replacement of the batteries. It’s a starting point at least.

Mine does the same and I also have the low battery warning. The two do seem linked as after a long drive or putting the car on charge, the two warnings go away for a couple of days.
I'm presuming the alarm battery is charged from the main battery so it sort of makes sense. Despite the low charge warning the car starts perfectly fine even on the coldest mornings. What I don't know is whether the low main battery is causing the alarm failure or whether the batteries in the alarm are not holding a charge either and I suspect that might be the case.. As above, there are YouTube videos on replacing the alarm batteries cheaply but not that easily or Ive read somewhere a new unit is around £150.
