Hi all need help with a warning light symbol
Hi there having gone from the old brick of a 740 gle to a newer 850 se (1994) after 6 months i have just had a warning light come on that i havnt seen before and can find no information on. It is an orange box with a green triangle with a black offset symbol inside the triangle similar to this /\. Does it mean curtains for the new updated brick?, or a hammering in the wallet before christmas? or can this be rectified easily?. Any information from you old skool Volvo boys would be very grateful. Please leave a post under this topic or contact me directly on e mail of : jules_lee@btinternet.com
This is the first post on this forum so please be gentle with me, many thanks Lee. ps im 34 and had a volvo for 7 years now, Super cars, great for transporting goods and the lads to the footie but my Dad keeps telling me that i have got to tune the radio in to Saga Fm! is this true :) |

RE: Hi all need help with a warning light symbol
It's the lamba warning light. Could be many things. Best thing to do is get the codes read then pop back on here and post them or get whoever reads them to tell you what they mean. People will know the problem then and be able to help more.
As for the radio best to leave it on radio 2......TOG's rule. Regards Iain

RE: Hi all need help with a warning light symbol
Although the symbol is Lambda as Iain says, it does not mean that the lambda sensor is a fault.
It is a "Check Engine light" I fyour lucky you will find a little box to the front drivers side of the engine bay and a bunch of sockets in there. With reference to a haynes or to the www.volvospeed.com website you will be able to read the codes yourself and act acordingly. TT |

With a 94 car as has been said you should be able to read the codes yourself. Let us know what codes you get.

RE: Hi all need help with a warning light symbol
Hi all thanks for your help. After tracking down the diagnostic equipmentim managed to read off non faults it had only memory loss and i was able to reset the light. This possibly happened to cranking over the engine when i ran out of petrol. Its all good now and hasnt eaten into my bank balance before Christmas enabling me to spend more beer at the footie and my trip to Stoke in the F.a Cup in Jan. Thanks again. No doubt i ll be back here at some stage again like the rest of you:( cheers Lee
