Default Replacing keyfob batteries

Hi all

Looking for tips to get into the clamshell of the keyfob. I have watched the Volvo video and a few other youtube how to videos and it looks so easy....

However I have been trying to get into the thing for hours and it just will not budge.

I slide the little switch on the chrome keyring attachment and then try to slde the case forward and it does not move a millimeter.

One thing I have noticed is that if I hold the keyring with the release switch on the left (like the volvo video the plain side of the fob is uppermost unlike the video which shows the volvo logo up when the slider is on the left. Has a previous owner put it together the wrong way and jammed the mechanism?

Annoyingly both keys have flat batteries and both wont open.

Any ideas gratefully received

Thanks for the offer. I have managed to open one of them once before just to check the emergency key is in there but I can't for the life of me get them to separate now.

I've just dis-assembled mine and put the covers on 'the wrong way round' and it still comes apart. Something simple, are you sliding it the right way, as you say you are sliding it forward.
If you hold the fob horizontally with the key ring end facing you slide the switch and then slide the cover away from you. This applies whichever cover is uppermost. It only moves a few millimetres and then lift the cover off. Don't let go of the little switch until the cover has slid back.

Yep, I'm sliding the switch and at the same time trying to slide the cover forward it just does not budge

I'll keep persevering

Thanks for the suggestions, when I gave up trying at about 4pm I stuck the fob in my pocket, getting it out four hours later when it was warm seems to have done the trick - it popped open first time.

A classic case of trying to take the back one off before the front one

Not at all - the side I was trying to take off first was the right one.... but what I have done is refit the shell so that the volvo logo is on the side to remove first. Next time it will give some more purchase to slide the cover off again.
