General: 70: - 850/V70 Diesel

Couple of questions guys.

How much should I look to pay for one of these cars with a Turbo diesel engine.

What sort of mileage is regarded as high on them? I know some of the Volvo engines run forever but I need this car to be as cheap as possible to run and look after.

its an audi engine any thing over 170k is high but should still be sweet

I have just traded in a P reg V70 SE TDI for my V70XC and it had done nearly 272,000 miles. There were a few bits of it that had packed up but all the important bits worked. I only changed vehicle as the XC was the right car, at the right price, at the right time (and they gave me £1000 px).

170k is high??? It's just run in. Drive it properly, service when due and it should go forever. Regards.

I paid £5 k for my 2000 v70 with 120k miles and full service history - runs like a dream and gives nearly 50 miles to the gallon solo and 35 with a ton and a half caravan on the back. the only down side is you need to rev it above 2000rpm to get decent performance when towing . Its a good replacement for my 89 740 2.3 (28 to the gallon solo and 17 towing)

I would say 200k is getting to the high milage anything under with full service history is ok.

The 850 tdi is pretty rare I think there is a couple in the autotrader, both have done over 200k and they want aprox £2k. Both the manual and auto are ok in the 850 range.

The V70 and S70 I am not sure about but I would only get a manual with these as the fuel consumption is far better with manual.
