Unhappy V70R Auto in need of medical Help!

The Orange arrow is flashing away and me thinks my auto has gone into Limp mode! I first found when hard on the gas the box would change up but it just revved out not quite engaging right! Then late last night the arrow started flashing and I think it’s stuck in winter/limp mode I read about the possibility that it was the PNP switch but I need an OBDII reader to make sure that’s what it is!
Also may need a garage along the M40/A40 Oxford/Hanger Lane Who won't take me to the cleaners if I need a new BOX

Chris,

obvious questions really - Have you checked the fluid level (done with the engine running and gearlever in park)? Have you 'cleaned' the PNP switch in the normal fashion by moving lever from P to L 30 times or so?

I do need to change the ATF but the instructions in bay13 are not clear enough for me (never done it) and don't want to really screw it up! maybe a dummy’s guide or if someone’s in oxford area sat I’ll make em lunch or fix there computer or feed em loads of larger or all of the above need to fit drop link and a few other bits as well!

HELP! HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPP!

I too found the instructions for changing the ATF a little daunting so I went down the drain/refill/dilute route.
I got myself about 15 litres of new ATF. Drain the ATF via the drain plug. Refill with fresh. Run engine, moving selector through all positions a few times. Drain, repeat above. Drain, repeat above. You get the idea. I think I drained mine four times in all.
I did this before I visited an auto gearbox specialist who said I'd made a pretty thorough job of it. He also commented that most garages would have drained it and refilled just the once.
Lazy way I know, but if you have the time and enough ATF it will improve what you have in there to begin with.

You will use less fluid if you drain - refill - run car for 30 seconds (this will pump the new fluid into the torque conveter and the old fluid into the sump.
Drain and refill again.

It does help to have a spotter when it comes to running the engine and it pumping the fluid out into a container. It doesn't take long to dump 1.5l out at all.

I marked a container with 1, 1.25 and 1.5l levels and just put the same amount of new fluid in to replace the amount of old indicated in my container.

The biggest pain is having to fill via the dipstick tube, that slows the job down a fair bit.

I've not idea what gearbox the V70R has. My experience is based on an 850R auto. With those the only way to fill it is down the dipstick tube or via one of the disconnected lines, there's no dedicated filler port.

The level will be different when the engine if off from when its on. Usually there are two levels on the dipstick, both to be read whilst the engine is running. A hot and cold level line. Most recommend the reading being done at the hot level as that is taken after you've been driving for about thirty minutes and the gearbox has seen proper use prior to taking the level.
