I’ve only had it six weeks!!!! Away with work and discovered this in the morning. Judging by the mess left someone reversed out of a space behind me at speed then cleared off. Hotel won’t disclose CCTV footage to anyone but police due to their GDPR policy but police aren’t interested.

That does not sound like the police (i know they get a lot of flack, but generally they are good).

I think you need to write/email the police, let them know you have been the victim of a crime and cctv evidence exists and then follow it up.

The police can’t ‘ignore’ victims.

It seems to be area-specific to the level are helpfulness, I know a few serving and retired police officers and on the whole they do a great job but sadly have to prioritise where they focus their resources. I'm going to let the insurance advise on the best approach, I have paid them enough over the years so they can start to earn some of it!

That's pretty tough. Can't comment on the Police - response does seem to vary according to region.
Can't see the pic though.

Make an allegation of criminal damage and see how you get on.

Criminal damage encourages a different perspective from the police. If the force area where it happened is a different force to where you live, report criminal damage to your home force. They are likely to record it as they won't be investigating it, and they will transfer it for investigation. It's a very simple clear up for them.

An accident on private property isn't usually something they will get involved in.

or.... leave it to insurance.

Well I just visited the local smart-repair place, they've done some work on my wife's car after SOMEONE dropped a hammer on it while fitting a new roof tile to the porch...... Like me he's into classic cars so understands my OCD with car paint. He popped out the bumper while I was there and will be repairing it properly in 6 weeks time, price is just slightly higher than my insurance excess.

Still annoyed at having to put my hand in my pocket for someone elses carelessness but at least it'll be done right rather than being rushed through a car-repair conveyor-belt style repair shop.

The only bit I need to source is the towing eye cover, unfortunately the ones on EBay are the early style!
