2015 V60 D5 Tyre Choice
Folks,
Looking for some help! My V60 seems to eat through front tyres and the current ones need replacing. Can anyone recommend a good quality all season tyre? Currently tried Nexen and Maxxis but neither lasted longer than 6/8000 miles. Happy to pay for a premium brand but I’d really appreciate anyone’s recommendations before I end purchasing something that doesn’t last again. Tyre size is 215 50 17 |

Michelin CCs are generally reckoned as the best for wear. There are often 4 tyre discounts available to offset the cost too.

Michelin Corss Climates very highly regarded but not cheap. Vredestein Quatrac also good and cheaper. I would say you should expect at least 18-20k out of a set…. So something might be amiss, if you don’t have a heavy foot?

Cross Climates worked well on my D5 engined V60. Didn't notice any difference in wear from summer tyres. Goodyear Vector All Season good on my other halfs Skoda.
Keep the tyre pressures checked and up, every weekend !!! |

CCs all the way - I got two fitted to my XC60 through Blackcircles for £270 - however this was BlackFriday.
Think they have 10% off at the moment. |

Thanks folks, unfortunately I think I've been guilty of letting the pressure drop by 3-5psi without realising, that combined with some tracking issues )which had allegedly been fixed

But please do keep the recommendations coming, alternatively if you support the above recommendations already then give them a thumbs up.
Michelin Cross Climate are coming in at £162 from a local supplier but if there's anything that's a wee bit cheaper it will be greatly received as I'm going to need 4! Last edited by alex1877; Dec 4th, 2023 at 15:57. |

While I can't attest to how long they will last as I've just purchased a set of Hankook Kinergy 4s2 all seasons. Cheapest I could find in the Northeast was KwikFit at £145 fully fitted a corner.
I wanted some Goodyear Gen3 Vector 4's. I've had the Gen2 of this tyre and they were excellent, but trying to find some was proving a problem, everyone up this neck of the woods were out of stock and were having trouble getting them. Michelin CC while rated as the best on TyreReview they are rather expensive. As mentioned on tyre reviews and for the weather we have in the UK "I would rather have an all season tyre that's good in the dry and the wet than one that excels in snow, that's what a winter tyre is for afterall." As for how my new set are doing all I can say is they are great, its a more comfortable tyre, the car is less crashy over bumps, road noise is way down, car feels smoother and with the recent snow we've had up here I can say I felt confident when driving in the snow. slush and a bit of ice. |
