940GL for sale 1991
Sadly selling my 940 due to lack of use as it has become a 3rd vehicle due to expanding family. Listing on here the volvo forum in the hope it wont get chopped up for bits or banger raced as its a nice solid car!
It is a 1991 with B230FB engine and manual 5 speed. 176k on the clock. Purchased by myself about a year ago after selling a nice car to top up the bank as work had dried up due to covid, lots of work has been carried out in my ownership to continue to make it a reliable bus. It was running OK when I bought it but I thought it could run better, and it does. New tyres all around Continental Eco Contact 6. New discs and pads all round including handbrake shoes. These were TRW or ATE. Brake fluid flushed and renewed. ATE. New in tank fuel pump. New high pressure fuel pump. ££££ New fuel filter. MAHLE Air filter. MAHLE Oil filter. MAHLE Two oil changes using castrol 10w30. Gearbox oil renewed with the correct type grade. Coolant renewed with the correct spec. New spark plug leads. New spark plugs NGK i thnk. New rotor arm and distributor cap. New bosch coil. New thermostat genuine Volvo. New rear exhaust box and tailpipe. New rear brake hoses. New handbrake mechanism. Interior carpets and upholstery cleaned. Towbar is fitted but I have never used it. I have not binned any of the electricals I have removed so they are included in the sale. A few bad bits, remember it is 30 years old! Nothing is really tragic. Headlining sagging, (doesn't bother me!) Speedometer has been repaired but is still sometimes intermittent. All the other gauges work fine. Attached video demonstrates it does work. It has been working most of the time this week so far. Car was parked in garage for most of the winter. Could do with a t-cut and detail. Nearside rear door mainly. Don't know how this happened, previous owner. Heated seats not working. Glove box needs a latch. Rear wiper not working, can hear it running but wiper doesnt turn. Petrol cap hinge needs attention. Rust - honestly there isn't really any, some surface rust near the battery tray, a couple of scabs here and there not noticeable. The doors are good, bodywork good, there will probably be some I have not found as it is 30yrs old but there is nothing nasty. There is probably more rust on our 2012 xc70. I am currently using it as a commuter for this week as I want to make sure it is 100% reliable for the next owner. I'm doing about 120 miles a day and it is running fine and returning good MPG. I usually get 30-35 out of it. This is a nice bus, gutted I am having to sell it but we just can't afford to have 3 vehicles and a new baby and work has picked up for me so my mileage has increased and therefore forced to use the eco 50mpg car we have. Here is a link to some pictures and videos I have just taken. (some are still uploading) https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...5v?usp=sharing Any questions please do ask. I am asking £1950 ono as I feel that is what its worth considering current condition with a lot of high quality parts fitted in my ownership that won't need doing for a considerable amount of time. You can get them on ebay in a bit of a state for 500-1000 or some nutters listing them at 5k+ and the car won't have had the love and parts I've given it. |
