Hi
if you want windows 7 for vida, you can install it on a laptop with windows 10 on it, so when the pc boots it asks you what you want to boot to, Dave |

Yeah you could dual boot, but it's still a nuisance setting up partitions, getting the right version of Windows, making sure it has the right system pack and various updates etc etc. That was part of the aggro I had doing the virtual machine version.
In the end i found it a lot easier just to get the windows 10 version |

Thanks again for your input all.
Dave - yes that's what I have on the laptops, multiple boot partitions (3 x Win 10, and a Win 7 partition for old Jaguar IDS system). Vida is on a dedicated partition. When it boots to that Vida is the only thing running apart from a couple of utilities for screen printing etc. I will revert to Win 7 for the Vida partition and rebuild with new Windows and Vida install. I won't be able to do that until next weekend but will update with the results.

Not sure about this....
I seem to recall back in the day of windows XP vida there was a necessity of installing VIDA to the C drive.
Failure to do so ment it would not work.I do not know if more modern Vida is less temperamental but would vida "see" a difference between a single C drive and a partitioned drive??? and if so would this be enough to make Vida malfunction? ? I'm not very computer literate so I can't comment for present 2014D version...but it was an issue I'm sure with earlier vida versions. I have a dell d620 win 7 ..yes it's a bit slow and I have to wait a bit at times....but it works. Cheers Bob. |

Thanks Bob. That shouldn't be an issue as in a multi boot system, the chosen boot partition becomes drive C and other partitions are assigned different drive letters.
So in my setup Vida is always on drive C when I boot to it.
