I had the battery go flat in the siren when the car was about 4 years old but at the time it was under Volvo Selekt warranty and was replaced FoC. I felt I was lucky because the dealer didn't quibble about the siren back up battery being a consumable because it's not listed as a replacement so they just classed the siren as faulty and warranted it. I understand that it's quite a common fault. It needs dealing with as soon as there is the slightest indication that it might be the fault because if left, the battery weeps over the printed circuit board and destroys it and then you have no choice but to replace the entire siren unit for about £200 while an ebay battery is about £10.

How's the state of charge of the cars main battery ? Neighbours car had an issue with the alarm going off because the car hadn't been used much & the main battery charge was low, during the cold night the alarm would go off as the battery level dipped.
