Default ABS Module

Hey guys,

I know the ABS module issue has been covered many times on here. I've had my car in the garage this morning, where the dry joints on the module have been soldered. That has cleared the communication issues that I previously had, however, there is still a code that is refusing to be cleared for internal module issue ram. Apparently, the unit (I haven't seen it myself) has signs of previous "manipulation", to use the word of the mechanic, and the ABS light is still currently on apparently. He does say that the joints on the main chip appear to be fine. Does anyone on here know what may be the issue, or even how to clear the fault? Is this something that requires Volvo's own reading programme?

Thanks

Default Update

So a quick update: I have now picked up the car, and it turns out that someone has removed 3 resistors from the board. Is there any specific reason why someone would do this? And how would this affect the issue I mentioned above? Also, does anyone know of a way to repair this?

As I said in the original post, it isn't the dry joints as they have been fixed, and I now have full communication between the module and the dash. If anyone can offer any solutions I would be greatful.

The three missing components were most likely capacitors, not resistors.

There is a capacitor connected from each connector pin to chassis ground - this gives some level of protection against electrical 'noise'.

The missing capacitors will reduce the noise immunity, though it's hard to say whether this is causing your ongoing problem.

Hi Verde70

If you tell me the part number on the outside of the unit, I will see if I have one and can send you a photo so you see what is missing.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for getting back to me. Sorry if this is potentially a thick question, but where is the part number located on the module?

Thanks again

Hi
No problem

On the outside (underside when mounted).

Look at
https://www.ecusolutionswales.com/pr...lvo-abs-repair

That part number is 9162675

If the part is back on the car, you may be able to reach down and take a photo upwards with a mobile.

Well, they could have put that in an easier place! Unfortunately, the unit had been remounted to the car. After looking on the link, I believe the code is 9472095. I've attached the photo anyway so you can have a look. Sorry it isn't clear as the label is worn.

I am led to believe it is a 1999-2000 model unit, and that 9467582, 9472969, 8619535 and 8619544 are also compatible. Not sure if this extra info helps or is even correct.

Thanks

Hi VerdeV70

Sorry, I haven't logged in for a few days.

I had a look and I don't have any ABS modules which are opened so I cannot send you a photo of the inside.

I do have a 9472095.
I also have a 9496942 and a 9472969 which I think might suitable but I cannot be sure.

I will send you my contact details if you are interested in buying one. ( I recommend keeping to 9472095 just in case those other part numbers are not suitable).

Hope that helps,
Steve
