Angry Lambda Warning Light?

My 1990 960 Estate has started to show a Warning light, green triangle on an orange background with an inverted Y...Lambda. What is the cause and more importantly, what's the cure?
Also I sometimes get the dreaded fashing arrow symbol regarding the WSE buttons. Is there a cheap way round this?
And lastly, does anyone have a handbook for my car? Not a manual but the owners handbook.
Thank you.

Hi,

Have you had any work done on the car recently that may explain this?
Filter change, etc.. anything?

You can try reseting the lights by disconnection the battery for 30-60 mins (or overnight) but they may come back.
You would be best going to find out what error codes are stored on the car as they will indicate the likely cause or problem..
This can be done by a dealer or good independant.

You could have a fauly sensor to the lambda /exaust system
and it may be that the sensor markers for the gearbox need a clean.
Also check to make sure your gearbox has some oil in it..

Question

All I have done was to top up the engine oil and fill up the washer bottle!
Where do I find the gearbox level stick?

Hi,

It should be a yellow stick, not far from the oil level stick.
However, it is buried deep in the engine.
Leaning over the passenger side wing, look down to the rear of the engine bay and you should see it.
Looks like it has been broken, it hasn't though..

I'd check for vacume and air leaks as this can bring on the lambda light
