Default Tyres - advice

Hi all,

i'm sure this must have been covered a few times before, but I wanted to see if anyone had recommendations for 'good' tyres for a V70? By good I mean last well and are safe - good braking control, stopping distances etc.

The last set I had on the rear of my 2009 2.0 D V70 have only lasted around 10 months / 11k miles odd, which doesn't seem very good at all. They were Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance.

thanks in advance

I've very much enjoyed how the Pirelli P7 Cinturato Blue performs on our 2011 V70 D5. The current rears went on the car as fronts at 45700, and took in an autobahn trip at 120+mph. They were swapped to the rear at 53500, and the car is now on 61500 and there is plenty of meat on them. The other pair which were fitted to the car earlier (43300) met a premature end when I got a puncture on the M6 a few weeks ago.

My commute each day is 25 miles round trip on twisty A-roads and through town, so I experience shorter tyre life than motorway munchers.

My Honda accord was hard on tyres, and destroyed Goodyear F1s in 10k, michelin primacy in 15k. I put a set of the slightly older P7 Cinturato (but not the old P7... not that pirelli use confusing names or anything) on it at 64688 miles, and it was still wearing them when traded in against the V70 at 84500.

I find that the grip level of the P7 is good across a wide range of conditions (not as good in hot temps as a high performance tyre like the eagle f1, but better in the cold, and a better balance for day-to-day life), and it's quiet and rides comfortably. It is well suited to the V70 in character.

Ours are 225/50R17 size.

I've been using the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo 2 K120 on mine. needing some new fronts. inclined to go the same way again. Although the Pirelli do look good.

Default Goodyear efficient grip performance 1 year report

My Goodyear efficient grip performance 225/50R17 (W 98) tyres are now almost 12 months old with 10k miles. Fronts now at 4.5 to 5mm & rears at 6mm. Very pleased with these tyres on my V70 D4!
Not sure which tyre / wheel size you have ive, but as you can see my experience of these tyres is very different.

I have just replaced my Goodyear Efficient Grip tyres with Goodyear Vector 4 Seasons (225/50 R17) for £110 each fitted from Mr Tyres. This is the first time I have tried 4 season tyres on the recommendation of a couple of Scottish colleagues. I have used Uniroyal Rainsport IIs on previous cars and was generally very happy with them. The Efficient Grips were what were on the V70 when I bought it last year.
