Default rear crank seal volvo v70 d4204t wtf...

Long story short. While doing clutch n dual mass on friends car noticed crank seal was damp so replaced all back together and its p##sing oil out. Fitted another seal same..... replaced core plugs and plug and washer to be on safe side another new seal.. SAME.... Ive now gone through seals with all different methods ie flush with outer block, seal pushed right in, seal dry, seal greased, seal left for 12 hours and seal tucked under outer of crank. Checked crank no float or play pcv valve is ok wet and dry crank and block. Still leaking.. ahh its always the freebies that go wrong..

I feel your pain ...................

Thanks for the heads up ............... at 104K I have a occasional light clutch judder which I am guessing to be wear in the DMF. I will wait until its bad before I change both the clutch and DMF ......... maybe another 20 - 50K

That must be a new type pre-sleeved seal with the protector tube already in place within the seal for installation ? ........... I guess you have checked the crank for scoring or 'pickup' on the seal land ? ...............

Thanks for reply no the seal doesnt come with a sleeve but I have made one from a coke can just incase it was flipping the seal. Still with no joy.. no crank play seals have no sign of damage or tears. I even used nail polish on the flange n rubbed down to remove any pits.. even running with no dip stick still leaks. Ive my 10th seal coming today and if still the same he can take it to volvo....... feeling defeated by a crank seal......😵
