I believe the S60R has the absolute worst turning circle of the lot.

My 2.0T is a 2008 with 225 17" wheels... turning circle isn't great but it's certainly not as bad as I was expecting.... I can get around tight spiral multi-storys without much issue. I did once read that improvements were made for 2007 onwards, but cannot back this up. Some person who claimed to have a wife who worked at Volvo, and regularly brought different models home. They stated that the 2007 onwards models were noticably easier to park.... Gotta take it with a pinch of salt as I have no source for the claim.

The rear parking sensors are a huge help though, It's a lot easier to back into spaces anyway, but the senors take out a lot of guess work.

You DO get used the to size and after a few days you don't really notice it.

This is not a reason to avoid buying the car.

The 940 is almost as manoeuvrable as a fork lift and I doubt you will find any other car of a comparable size that can come close to it. The Ph3 V70 is also about 150mm wider (excluding mirrors) and the doors are thicker so once you have reversed into the gap you might not be able to get out. I haven't had too much difficulty with parking either car (you get a feel for the spaces and gaps you will get into) but my experience is that the 940 is easier.

Thanks folks.

I've read umpteen reviews, and it does seem fairly conclusive that the 2007 (P3) V70s were a big improvement, in terms of turning circle.

Twice a week I have to park in a very tight spot. I suppose I've got 'specific needs'. Even in the 940 every so often I have to ask some of the girls to guide me out.

I'm just being careful not to fall in love with this car. I really appreciate the turning circle of the 940. And a V70 isn't quite my dream car. But it's a good price, so if I changed my mind after a year it wouldn't be the end of the world. I'll see what I think once I've driven it.

Jesus Christ, I thought my P3 XC70 had a poor turning circle!! My C70 with 17 inch wheels was just as bad but I had no idea the P2 was that much worse!! The XC90's I drove were OK; but then they are the size of a Sherman Tank so maybe I was expecting them to be bad...
