Default Dog guard

Evening all.

I need a dog guard for the V50 and I'm wondering if I should be looking to acquire a pukka Volvo guard.

From what I can see in pictures online, the Volvo guard appears to have gas struts. Is this correct? And what do the struts do?

TIA

Mine locked into the side of the boot - pre cut holes to fit the dog guard into and it folded flush with the roof when not in use

Thanks lordbasil. That sounds much more useful than one of the fixed alternatives. I'll see if I can find one!

Not sure what year ur V50 is but mine (2005) has retractable net fixed to the back of rear seats, it rolls upwards and locks on clips on both sides under roofliner.
Its not technically dog guard, more like luggage net but works well enough for my doggo to prevent her from reaching back seats.
edit: its a removable part so can be purchased separately if found one and doesnt take much space when retracted.

My V50 is a 2008. Yes, I do have a luggage net but my doggo is a bit of a tall lump, so I wouldn't want to rely on it to keep her & me safe.

Thanks LoB.
