Default Air Con Compressor

Hi Volvo owning friends,

I would like some opinions on a problem with my S40. I am having to have replaced for the second time in a just under a year, the AC Compressor which failed again 10 days or so ago.
My mechanic and I agree this is remarkably bad luck.

Although, the independent Volvo specialists who are doing the work now and did so back in January as well, say that fortunately the part is covered by a year's guarantee, I am unlikely to have to pay for the part again but labour costs are a bit of a grey area. Do members think I should have to pay these at all?

Given also that the car is unlikely to be ready until after Christmas and I am having to use their loan car during this time, should I be charged for these days too?

Your thoughts please.

If the reason for the first compressor failure was down to breaking up internally (as they often do). Then the full AC system should be reversed flushed to remove all the metal particles. If this is not done then the next compressor will not last long.

your contract is with the volvo specialist not volvo so THEY should cough up the labour and part , whether they make a loss or not .
If they fitted a new pump and it's packed up it suggests they didnt add the correct quantity of PAG oil required with a new compressor . assuming it has internal problems and not a clutch problem?
