Default V70 stiff steering

Hello,

Looking for some help my V70 D5 2.4 2010 71k Volvo has stiff steering at low revs, if sitting stationary it's like you have no power steering, but put the foot down and give some revs it returns to normal lightness. Am thinking it might be the power steering pump on the way out but has anybody had the same problem??
Any help would be great.

Steve.

Yes well known problem which I have suffered. Sorry but your pump is starting to fail, its caused by the power steering fluid reacting with the pipes. This causes the pipes to break up clogging the filter in the bottom of the reservoir. The restricted flow then causes the pump to fail.
You can't change the filter as it is part of the reservoir but some have found an improvement by cleaning or changing the reservoir. Some have changed the pump as well but these can be short term fixes the proper repair is changing the pump and pipes.
Mine was done under warranty so not sure of costs.
