It was an experiment regarding fitting the down pipe Dave.It was a cheap ebay thing of poor quality to see if a standard v70 d5 downpipe could be made to fit.Answer is it can with alot if fannying about and bending but the resonance at 2000rpm was too much for me.Original downpipe being fitted today so my ears can recover.

Hi so do you think it has now stopped overboosting,
so have you got a high flow catback exhaust,
so the down pipe decat did improve performance, was the noise a lot louder ,

I would say without scoping boost it is certainly boosting to spec. The down pipe that's refitted is the original Volvo system mated to a stainless one box system. The noise was nice apart from at 2000rpm where it seemed to resonate through the car while boosting at its highest (apparently) amount. It seemed to boost quicker and go better with the decat pipe but having not had it on a dyno its just seat of your pants feeling. Its difficult to gauge true bhp but the last s60 d5 185 (when standard) felt about the same apart from the xc has more low down pull.I think that's pretty impressive considering the added weight. When I had the s60 mapped it was a different car and was alot quicker than the xc.

Isn't that perfectly normal? I can bet mine's even louder, especially when cold, sounds like a jet taking off. I've been told that the turbos on D5s are noisy.

Well, finally got some time to get under the car to check and test turbo actuator and connect a vacuum gauge to test the governor while I was at it.

The actuator on the turbo moves freely with a hand pump tester. Holds vac with no issues.

After that I connected a vacuum tester inline with the connection to the turbo actuator. The governor seems to be doing it's job correctly above idle, but not sure why it's getting 20 inhg of vacuum at idle though.

https://youtu.be/fI7hSJrvRsU

Could be the governor, but guess it could also be a result of vnt control on the remap.

TCV tests fine.

While under it I noticed a coating of oil on the turbo pipe to the intercooler. There is also some oil lying around the intercooler.

It's in at a specialist later this week of a routine service, so will have a chat with them. Suspect the remap will be coming off until to confirm the governor first rather that swapping it first.

To keep the turbo spooling and avoid lag?
From the video I would tell that your vacuum system works fine.

You have checked the intercooler? That's the classic symptom of a failed/failing one.
