Welcome, but as a trader, you need to register for inclusion in the traders group - see Rule 6 here - http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/rules.html

Drop us an email and we'll sort it out.

cheers

With my very own eyes.

yesterday the mechanics who worked on my V70 showed me some oil from a rather well known company sold in a "private shop" that you need a membership for >This place is meant to "COST" less than other places

Now they showed me the same bottle (both sealed) bought from a supplier

both opened and 1/4 litre poured into clear glasses . Not the same oil..... huge colour difference and the smell was different

Same spec etc .100% the same label . No difference at all, except for the contents

Now....I wonder just how much we are been fooled and the marketing making us "happy" to buy expensive oils etc

I think we are been conned .

"Marketing" is one thing, but that sounds like flat-out fraud!

cheers

If you are talking about castrol Edge 0w/30 A5/B5 for volvo cars which replaced SLX and LONGTEC this was available from many outlets up until about a year ago , then it was not available on the retail market , only sold in bulk to volvo dealers, at this time the formla was changed , it has a green/yellow flourescent dye added . Is this what you see? the old and new would indeed look different .

What was that bright green oil sold in the 60's Duckhams?

I always get the official Volvo Castrol for my engine from FRF at discount.

Here is the official list for all cars published by FRF Volvo. Notice that the names are only very slightly different for different oils.

So whats the best oil then, there doesnt seem to be an answer...

Ive topped mine up with Mobil 1 3000 Fully Synthetic until i get round to doing an oil change..

Its 5W30 and meets A5/B5 spec.

I have a 2002 S80 D5 and according to the Castrol Oil selector on their website they recommend a 5W40 Castrol Edge. I also checked Mobil website and they recommend a 0W40 Mobil 1.

Confused even more.
