underneath the graph is shows the A5/B5 bit you mention.
That's why I wondered if it was the correct oil he was looking at as the spec sheet was different and no photo of the lable on the Opie site he was looking at.

Opie have the same oil as us you can be rest assured as we supply them. It will be a simple matter of them not having updated their web site

Ive been looking for the new Castrol SLX Professional Longtec for Volvo Cars, once again the dealers are raping you on prices (as are volvo UK)

Dealer price (discounted) was £14.99 a litre!

Price from http://www.mapodo.de/product_info.php/products_id/444 is Euro 9.90 a litre with Euro 17.50 for shipping...

Apparently, and I haven't tried yet, you may be able to order it from Castrol Direct at about £8.50 a litre inc vat and shipping (as long as you buy a minimum quantity)

Volvo 5 litres £74.95
Mapodo 5 litres Euro49.50 + Euro17.50 shipping (Euro 67) @ £48.36
Castrol 5 litres £42.50

Even buying it from germany is cheaper than buying the equivalent from Amsoil... and I know I'd rather personally be using the Proper Volvo Castrol Stuff.

I'll know about the Castrol thing tommorow

Castrol told me it was only available from the main dealer. However I didn't ask to buy the dealer size which is a 1000 litre drum, but thanks for the other info.

Apparently, there is a way to buy direct from Castrol and not in 1000litre drums either

Default Castrol's Oil for D5's

Official response from Castrol tech service, today, is that the only Castrol oil that meets the 0W-30 A5/B5 spec is Castrol SLX Professional Longtec and that it is available only from Volvo dealers.

However, I now see that Comma produce Comma 0W-30 Long Life A5/B5 oil. My local Wilco stock it.

As this is undoubtedly an Esso/Mobil formulation it should be fine and will comply with ExxonMobil quality standards, (Comma being a wholly-owned subsidiary of ExxonMobil).

Just my two-pennorth.

Yes... I've been saying that on the forum for the last 6 months, because that's what Castrol told me, but they are wrong. If you follow
s60ben's link you will see that it is available at a reasonable price even with the postage.....
http://www.mapodo.de/product_info.php/products_id/444

I would guess the Comma still beats it on price though.

Roy, That Mapodo price is good, no doubt. Also found that there is Mobil 1 Fuel Economy 0W-30 A5/B5 but not seen it on-shelf. The Comma product was £37.99 for 5 Ltrs in Wilco.

However, had a result today. Went into my local Volvo dealer in Lincoln. Bought 1 Ltr of Elf Evolution SXR 0W-30 A5/B5 for £8.82 incl VAT. Don't need any top-up yet but like to have it available. My dealer uses this oil for all D5 servicing, apparently, so they're obviously sticking to the rules.

Thanks for the Mapodo link.

Given the furore about oils, I simply stay with what Volvo did extensive testing on, the VAG guys have had this issue for some time, and recommend simply nothing but the correct spec oil, and VAG have more oil specs than anything else going.

I have a simple view on the subject of Oils given the "money" thats there to be made... I can either be "ripped off" by two major multinationals (Volvo & Castol) who have repeatedly stated the correct oils however I can mitigate the costs easily by buying from mapodo, or I can be "Ripped" off by a third party oil manufacturer, who says their oil is the best thing since sliced bread...

I choose to stay with Castrol, if it costs a little more than some "cheap" Comma or Mobil 1 that apparently meets the base spec of ACEA A5/B5 but yet you have no idea what additives are involved in it....

Whats interesting is that the Mobil 1 fuel economy mentioned above doesnt state that it is suitable for extended drain/service (That I can see anywhere on spec lists) .....

Anyway...................

I've recently bought my oil from Mapodo in Germany, I ordered it on Friday Morning at 1.30am...

It arrived this morning at 10.30am, VERY professionally packed and strapped, with "airbags" to protect the contents, and delivered by DHL Premium.

Absolutely Spot on and I have no hesitation in recommending them for supplies to the UK, even given the language barrier (of which there isn't one really), they are very easy to deal with.

For the difference of £20 more or so over the "cheap" lookylikees... I've got exactly what it says it should have in it on the tin I'm happy, I didn't buy my car to skimp and scrape for 20 quid on oil... and I'll do more oil changes per year than your average Volvo T5 driver given my 50/60k a year mileage. I can't really understand people who worry about the £20 when driving such vehicles... it's a bit like those who put chinky chung wing wong tyres on a 250+bhp car.... nuts... absolutely nuts...
