Default Remote/switched (un)locking not working for passenger door

I have searched on the forum but the results are so varied (99% have nothing to do with my search words!) that it's impossible to find anything.

I have had a fault develop over the past couple of days.

The passenger door has stopped responding to the remote fob or internal switched lock/unlock.

I can push the stick down to lock and pull the inside lever to unlock but it doesn't respond to the remote or the switches on either door panel.

At first it was intermittent but now won't work at all.

Is this an easy fix or do I need to take it to a garage?

Will any garage be able to do it or will it need to be a Volvo one?

TIA

Shevek

First thing that comes to mind is that you might have one or more fractured wires in the harness - the usual place for them to break is in the rubber sleeve that runs from the A-pillar to the door frame, in the door opening. You may be able to pull that rubber sleeve back far enough to expose the wiring and identify the broken wire, in which case some careful re-soldering with shrink tubing to insulate it all should solve the problem.

If you don't fancy it, then I would have thought that any decent automotive electrician should be able to sort that out.

Seems to have sorted itself out!
