Volvo 460 Alarm
Hi All, not new to VOC but new to 400 forum.
Recently purchased 1995 460 CD 2.0i with full electrics, leather seats and air con.Does anybody have a solution to the probs i have with it. 1. The alarm - when i set it using the remote fob after a few minutes the hazards start flashing as if the alarm has been set off, it does not stop until i turn it back off,the siren doesn't go off but may be it has been disconnected for this reason. Can't use alarm and obviously fob to lock doors because of this. Anyone know solution and where the alarm is? 2. SRS light- The previous owner said he had to change the computer due to led packing in,he had to remove steering wheel so said the SRS light needs resetting, any one know how i do this. |

RE: Volvo 460 Alarm
Hi...
I drive a `94 440, and my alarm was temperamental. After i disconnected the battery to install my stereo, and re-connected the battery, the alarm worked differently. There have been a few dodgy alarm questions posted here, so it`s quite a common occurance! I had a similar problem-after setting the alarm with the fob, like yours it would go off. This can be a few things, like: Sunroof not closed properly, door maybe not shutting properly, or bootlid or bonnet not shut. But after many painstaking days of searching, i found the problem under the bonnet. The alarm sensor is under the bonnet-so when it is closed the button is depressed activating the alarm. I found that as i had been leaning over the engine, cleaning and polishing etc, i had bent the bracket on which the button was located down, so when i shut the bonnet the sensor wasn`t making contact, making my car think the bonnet had been opened. Solution-bent the bracket back up. Hey Presto! I know my sensor thingy is located on the rear right hand side of the black plastic cover that covers up the radiator. Give it a look. It may not be the solution you`re after, but it could help! Good luck! Dan
