Default Fuses, bulbs, help!!

Hi folks looking for some help if poss please. The marker lights at the front of my car are not working though the rear ones are. Would this be the bulbs themselves or could it be a fuse, its just it seems a bit coincidental for both to not be working. I'm aware from reading on here that the whole unit needs replacing if a bulb goes without soldering etc.
Both boot lights aren't working either, could this be linked or just unfortunate?
Any help or suggestions mucho appreciated.

As regards to your boot lamps... I'm assuming it's an S not V... well be a little careful if you find both bulbs have blown. When I bought my V40 last year I discovered that rear luggage compartment lamps had there own problems. Well the dealer had disconnected the loom/spades from the lamps, to ensure that he didn't have a flat battery, not unreasonable, but what a job I had fishing em' out from behind the panels.

Anyway why should you be careful... well I went to Halfords to get some replacements and bought the cheapest and had great difficulty fitting them. So took em' back and measured them against the Bosch stock 239 12V 5w and found the cheap ones to be about 5mm longer. I asked the staff who agreed, that there should be no difference, so I took the Bosch variant. I found the lamps I got in the first place were simply too long, even though the packaging said they should fit.

With regards to fuses not sure without a schematic to hand, it would be of help if you added what year or phase the car is, because the marker lamps have changed between years.

Anyway good luck, sorting it.

Have you checked to see if the interior lamp holders are connected to the loom... i.e. was it bought off a forecourt, they have a habit of disconnecting to stop battery drain, as they keep the hatch open to minimise condensation.

No, this was a recent private buy, and to be honest I've only had the car since Monday gone and had no time to play or look.
Tomorrow is the day of cleaning, play etc and plan to check the obvious.
As you say this may be the case, for all I know the last owner may have purchased the car from a forecourt and had the issue throughout their ownership.

Hi

This is not a direct answer, but ...

I had a problem recently when both sidelights failed at the same time as I put in new H4 headlight bulbs. I was convinced that it must be a fuse as it was too coincidental.

I couldn't find a blown fuse so I looked in the manual to see what bulbs they are and I found that I had ordered some LED ones from ebay to have "just in case" about a week earlier!!

Anyway, once they arrived I fitted the LED bulbs and found that both the original bulbs had blown at the same time.

Well after a days graft on the old girl I found that one side had been disconnected and the other needs a bulb.
Many thanks
Just need to sort the marker light issue out at some point!
