However yesterday I went to a committee meeting for the games club I am the treasurer for.

That meant firing up the big girl for a short jaunt to Chatteris.. she is performing well and pulls like a train; in fact better than ever, so my enthusiastic driving must be rubbing off on her

Over tea and talk the subject of Fuel Shortages came up with the owners of two "Milk Floats" presents gloating about me using precious fuel whilst their cars sipped voltage.

I laughed and told them how I would rather run my 26yr old 3 litre than either of their bland boxes. I had more fun driving to that meeting than they will have in a year of driving their milk floats...

I really wish the full environmental impact of "new electric vehicles" was being reflected - I think the stored energy in my car from it's manufacturing alone more than offsets exhaust emissions whereas in 26 years time I doubt their cars will still be with us?

An enthusiastic jaunt home after the meeting blew my troubles and pain away .. who needs pills when you have a 960?
I think they might have slightly more fun in a Tesla model S !! 1000 + BHP and 0-60 in 1.99 seconds

Trouble is the way things are going all our old Dinosaur cars won't be able to leave the carparks ! Ulez etc etc. Anyway let's not go into an electric car debate as it will last forever.

I would like a shot in one just to see how 0-60 in under 2 seconds actually feels though ! Must be pretty amazing to have all that torque riight from the off

God almighty life has got in the way of much 960 fun these past 5/6 weeks...

My cancer induced Anaemia and the colder weather has definitely had me taking to my bed .. but something of the 3.0ltr 24valve goodness stirs in my loins ...

But it's another younger lady that has caught my eye and this time it's not a Volvo!

I feel dirty and ashamed but a rare v6 French lovely has caught my eye ... I am currently bidding online for it so all will be revealed shortly .. win or lose it's an interesting car and one of under 30 left in the UK..

Fringers crossed and juices rising I maybe a few mins away from a second 3.0ltr 24valve lovely

I hope it's not a 406 V6 Coupe? Come to think of it, anything French is a nightmare as well. In all honesty, tie your bidding finger to the bedpost so you can't keep bidding on the piece of junk!

So close... I know they are a nightmare but I have a soft spot for the old PSA cars of the 80's and 90's - I have had three 205s and a clutch Berlingos plus a 1.4 Diesel AX over the years ...

all were electrically challenged but the engines were so much fun and the 205s were a joy especial the GTD I had before company cars took over for a few years

Not only did you dodge a bullet there, you dodged many bullets!

The Active Suspension system can give lots of trouble, usually through sensors and/or other electrical gremlins that all French cars are known for. Also the 24v heads developed by Peugeot for the PRV engine aren't the best, can go porous and/or crumble. Also prone to overheating in the exceptionally tight engine bay which again, isn't good!

Good to know all four spheres were replaced this year and the LPG checked too but I was looking to steal it for under 2k .. maybe that would have been too much ..?

Anyhow off to buy lunch and have me some 3.0ltr Volvo fun

I have a soft spot for them too - Clenchwarton Marsh!

Berlingos are death traps, 205s are another nightmare, the n/as XUD9 diseasel heads would crumble for a pastime, the only one out of that lot with any redeeming features is the 1.4 AX although that's just a restyled 106. The 1.4 diseasel lump was one of Peugeots better efforts but still highly polluting (even by the standards back then) for a diseasel.

The petrol XU9 (aka 1.9 as fitted to 205 GTI) was an incredibly fumey unit and would throw oil into the breather system with alarming regularity. It was an unwritted service item to empty a can of carb cleaner into the breather and throttle body at a 6000 service and often it needed the same treatment in between services if the driver was "enthusiastic".
