Question New Car Collection Ritual at Dealer

So, when collecting a new XC90, what are your top tips for things to ask/say/do/check at the dealer, things that they should do on collection?

I’ve seen the PSim setup rigmarole so that’s on the list. What else?

Cheers!

Make sure they set up VOC, you should have a 4 digit pin code sent to you so make sure you have it with you, install the VOC App on your phone before you pick up your car, you can do that any time via google play store or the Apple apps, ensure it connects to car before you leave the dealers, ask if the car has the latest software updates carried out.
If you have not already done so, download the owners manual now and read it over and over, make a note of anything you are not sure about or anything you want more information about.

I'm fairly picky but here's what I do:

1. Ask to see the PDI checklist and ensure everything is ticked off.
2. Check the vehicle VERY carefully, inside and out. It should be in perfect condition; check panel gaps, check the paintwork for 'orange peel' and any marks.
3. A good dealer will have a standard handover process which should include going over controls etc with you. Make sure everything works. Don't be rushed and ask any questions about how things work.

Enjoy your new car!

I agree with all the above.

One small point to ask: Where is the Security Socket for the wheel studs?
My previous Volvo’s, it was in the glove box, but I could not find it, took a phone call to the dealers, to be told, that it is now stored in the housing for the Tempa spare wheel.

Thanks, good ideas.
What’s the VOC Pin? I registered for a Volvo ID and have the app, it just asks for the VIN number to pair the car.

Anyone got the latest software version number and where to check it so I can check myself before I drive away? Would be nice to verify when they say ‘yes of course it’s got the latest!’ (Cynical I know!)

The VOC pin number will be emailed to you, it is used the register the Volvo on call communication system with Volvo to allow you to use the in car VOC and SOS buttons to contact Volvo in the case of a breakdown or assistance as well as getting other information, messaging, route help etc etc. This is different to the VOC App for remote start, locking etc.

Ah so you get the pin for voc after the dealer have registered it then.
I certainly haven’t received one so far.

Loving the ideas. Keep them coming!

If it has the "new" auto gear change handle with the push button "p" instead of the 4th position on the gear selector - make sure you understand how it works - not chalenging but it is different (perhaps)
