Can anybody offer me advice on fitting a push button start to my Amazon. To prevent another key snapping off in the ignition I am fitting a button start. The ignition cable is armoured. How do I manage to fit the push button?

Any help greatly appreciated!

I used to suffer from snapped keys until I carefully drilled and threaded a lug into the ignition lock barrel (it sticks out about 3mm from the front of the ignition switch). I positioned the lug so that when you turn the key to start, the shank/hilt of the key presses against the lug thereby removing the strain from the shaft of the key. Have not had any problem since this.

PS if all you want is to fit a push button just wire it between the switched positive supply (taken from back of the ignition switch) and the wire to the starter solenoid (also on back of ignition switch). The armoured cable just contains a wire to supply the coil and not the starter motor.

Happy motoring.
