Default Low tech option

Had a Neiman key break off and locksmith was closed. Had both parts so taped them together and photocopied it. Cut out the shape with small scissors and taped it to a key blank. Filed key blank to same shape with a set of tiny files. Worked fine.

Is there somewhere I can get the Waso fuel cap blanks? I've drawn a [ahem] blank on this for the last five years, every locksmith and key cutter I've spoken to just says no-can-do. I only have one fuel cap key so this does make me a bit nervous.

Google is your friend. I just picked the Silca one because they are common.

I'd still use my cobbler guy for them, he might well have them on the hook in the shop.

Hmm, well Googled!

The IT support people at my wife's work have a phrase, "let me Google that for you" which seems apt here....

Thanks!

Mark;

My compliments on a creative solution! Necessity is the mother...

Once you have and start using the new working key, the clock starts on accumulative fatigue... I suggest you stop that clock (Forever!) by installing a Pushbutton Start Switch. SwEm Tech article on the subject is in the works!

Cheers from Connecticut!

There are also the new ignition barrels available from CVI. They look like the Neiman barrel, but take an ASSA style key. Apparently this is a much stronger key design - I note that all the broken keys shown seem to be the Neiman ones, or copies of.

You're preaching to the converted. I always do that on 120s and before the normal switch starts to act up. The trick is to wire the push button in parallel so if you reach for the key in a panic it still works. On my 1966 Californian estate it has the steering wheel on the wrong side and the switch arrangement on the dash made the cigar lighter socket a good place for a button. I used a spare chrome surround from another ignition switch to fill out the hole. I also fitted a modern 'accessory socket' further under the dash to use with satnavs etc.
