Default Original Sensus Maps update

Apparently there is a software update for pre-Sensus Connect satnavs i.e from my11 to my14.5 which allows you to use the USB socket to update the maps free of charge using the same maps that Sensus Connect uses.

Might be worth someone with one of these models pinging their dealer to get more information

Very useful, thanks. I'll call the dealer tomorrow and see what they say, would be a useful addition to Mrs McP's V40.

Yes, the 4-DVD systems that are pin-protected (approx MY 2012-2014) can now be software-updated to be USB-updatable with the free maps!

http://support.volvocars.com/forum/t...es--price.aspx refers.

Phoned my local dealer yesterday; they weren't aware until I pointed it out. Very helpful, car's booked in for the update. Cost is very reasonable too - I got a discount for bringing it to their attention, so not fair to post it here.

The dealer update takes several hours, & is S/W plus maps. Then subsequent maps can be downloaded via USB in the comfort of your own home.

Oooh.

Might have this done. Wasn't in a million years going to pay the original amount for the disks!

Could you please repost the Volvo support link? It appears to have been shortened and doesn't work?

Thanks

Never mind found it:

And the link to download the maps after you have the update is:-

This is welcome news! With several superior free map products available for smart phones and iPads, I doubt many owners would pay the price Volvo wanted for the DVD updates as it doesn't represent good value for money. I stopped updating after my 2 free updates and I am currently on 2012 maps so an update would be useful.

My cars booked in next week for its annual service so I'll try and get the update then.

Thanks for the info!

Hi,
That is such great news. Do you know if this update gives any other advantages? i.e. like internet connection through Bluetooth,or send to maps, or any updates to the Sensus menus/options?

Mill Volvo in Newcastle deny all knowledge of the update

Mill Volvo in Sunderland have arranged to get mine done at £85, the update is purely software no hardware and just allows the USB updates, no new features like wifi or Internet

I was just about to phone my dealer to enquire so having a target price, which still, to me, seems expensive for an update , is very useful. Is this price mainly labour, do you know?
