I found the srs crash sensor unit bolted to the floor pan, underneath the passenger seat.You will have to remove all 4 bolts out of the seat rail mounts, then if you just tilt the seat over backwards, you will have enough access to the srs unit.....er also good time to retrieve the odd £1 coins and lost pens from down the side of the centre console at same time, ha ha.

I've got a couple of the 555 based modules, quite handy and cheaper than buying the timer chip, relay, discretes etc and building it myself!

Well worth the money!

That's the sort i got originally, had a use for several of them so bought 5 or 6 and got them from HK because with that amount, the price difference added up.

It works fine but not the way i hoped, i'm working on ways to reconfigure it or wire it differently to how i originally intended but that highlights the fact the descriptions aren't great on how they actually work!
Quiescent current is only about 12mA (42mA active so the relay takes 30mA) so with what i have in mind, i'd probably get away with wiring it in permanently.

Hello Stegreg, I found the crash sensor exactly where you said it would be, unfortunatley I am in the same position as you were, I have no way of testing the SRS as I do not have the A +B boxes under the bonnet. so it looks like I will have to replace the crash sensor. Could you please tell me where you got your crash sensor from as the local Volvo dealer tells me they are now obsolete and not available. After you fitted your new crash sensor did the light go out on it's own or did you have to have it reset?

I sourced a secondhand unit off ebay. but make sure you have the battery disconnected first before replacing the unit. then once replaced and fully bolted down, reconnect the battery... I presume you already know what caused the light to come on? Mine triggered because I removed the steering wheel without disconnecting the battery, so system thought steering wheel bag was open circuit, silly me.
