Unfortunately it won't read the SRS codes, although I am hoping that a unit that a friend owns but no longer needs might. He's about 200 miles from me so it's not simply a case of nipping round to his place.

It will flash Ignition, Fuel, ABS and Cruise Control codes.

Call me stupid (I am) but how would I know if I need one of these or if a normal unit would be ok? I have a 1997 (nearly 1998) 940 2.3 turbo. Just let me know what I need to check to find out!

I think ( although I'm not expert by any means ) if you have an OBD port in your centre console thingy it will work. If you lift the lid you should see a panel in the middle that lifts up to reveal the OBD port

Only with a Volvo code reader! I can't remember where i read it last night but apparently as the 940 was discontinued in the USA from 1995, they didn't bother updating the engine management and OBD-II came about in around 2000 with manufacturers having to comply by 2001 i believe, by which time the 9xx was history anyway. As such, i don't think any 9xx models ever had OBD compliant (either I or II) DTC reading available.

I believe it does but it uses a different method of reading. It switches the pulsed outputs to the LED so the flashes can be counted and cross-referenced in the chart in the FAQ, linked to earlier in this thread.

I spoke to him on Wednesday evening and he's tidying out his garage at present so should have located it in the next couple of days.

Once I've received it I'll post in this thread...
