Just a quickie!!

Do Ferodo make DS2500 pads for the rear brakes on 850's?

Anyone got a part number if they do?

Not according to their web site, they don't. Have a look at http://www.elcome.ltd.uk/DSPerf/index.asp

You certainly don't need them - the rears do very little, so just save your money for the front pads.

Andy,

You may be able to get a Black Diamond or EBC red or green pad for the rear, but I also very much doubt that they will be an improvement over the standard Volvo material as these rear brakes really do little work even in hard road use. Also, in extremis, you dont want the rear wheels locking up with a more aggresive pad as the weight comes off.

I expect that you keep your rear set-up in tip-top order, generally however, poor braking at the rear seems to come from a lack of attention to keeping them clean as the cars get older. Not a problem with dealer maintained cars where they are pushing to sell new discs at the very slightest sign of wear.

Interestingly the (in)famous Volvo Performance Brakes come with a set of rear pads, but no one at Volvo seems able to tell me if they are different compound to standard or whether they just provide new rear pads since the front ones are being replaced.

Thanks for the replies.

Apparantly they do exist, Volvotuning stock them.

I'll have to see how much they are versus the plain vanilla flavour and decide whether they are actually needed.

They really aren't necessary - but if you haven't got stainless steel braided hoses get those instead.
