Default XC90 Tyres

Hi All,

I bought for new tyres recently to replace the original PZero's. I opted for Pirelli Scorpion Verde all season M+S tyres and I'm delighted with them.

Noticeably quieter and smoother than the old ones, plenty more grip and being all season should fair well in the winter. They're not winter compound, they just have a M+S tread pattern and are labelled M+S on the sidewall. You can also get a summer version. Haven't had them on long enough to notice any fuel economy benefits yet.

They are hard to get hold of, most garages will tell you they're unavailable but if you call Pirelli directly they'll supply them to your garage of choice.

They seem to suit the XC90 perfectly.

I think Pirelli are the worst premium tyre on the market. I'll buy any other tyre but not Pirelli, but this is pretty much personal choice and knowledge about tyres. If you are happy with them, this is the most important!

Now without a doubt i would agree with you as i hate pirelli's with a passion BUT the xc90 that i got end of last year came with 4 newish pirelli scorpion zeros on and i have to say am suitably impressed on and off road,

I managed to drag my car trailer up hill out my friends muddy farm yard without to much trouble (yes an xc90 that gets used off road occasionally) and there grip on road is impressive for a 4x4 tyre

I found the Scorpion zeros good initially esp the wet, but the wear rate was horrendous. Now with Nokians WR SUV3 and very happy so far with the grip, ride, noise and wear.

It's likely that most people changing to a set of new tyres (including cheap Chinese rubbish) will always comment "comfortable", "quiet", "better than old ones" etc..... but that's because the previous tyres were worn out, probably with little tread and rubber that has changed in the years they have been on.

Must admit it's not a brand favoured by me and would go out of my way to avoid.

I'd agree with you there, however I've had my car from new and it never felt quite right on PZero's in the dry. The compound seemed too hard and the wheels never properly gripped the road.

That said the PZero's were superb in snow (or maybe that was just down to my driving!)

I'd recommend the Scorpion Verde's All season M+S for anyone looking to change. The XC90 drives well on them (19").

Thus far I have run Continental Cross Contact UHP in the summer and Michelin Latitude Alpin in the winters.

The Contis have fantastic grip, but they are quite loud. Then again they are 255 wide, so its a bit unfair to be picky about road noise.

Default Xc90 tyres

Hi I'm new to this, it appears difficult to post on here? Prob just me?

Does anyone find their XC90 scrubs just the outer edge of both front tyres?

Mine is a 2012 model with 18" wheels, with only 9700 miles on the clock. Dealer is saying this is normal for this model of car!

Thanks.
