Ok!
I have been thinking that probably the cheapest way for me to get a 3-door glt is to convert my 1985 gl. So as I'm not that up on what the differences in spec were/are, please could anybody tell me what I need to do this and also if anybody has the bits that I would need and for how much. I will travel for the right parts at the right price. Ian. |

Externaly you will need
Rear spoiler, which I have Front grill, which I have Alloy wheels, which I have some maybe all. Also the GLT's had front fog lamps and a chin spoiler as well. You will need the 2.0ltr engine along with the torque tube and maybe a gearbox, not sure if the gearbox on the renault engined 340's is the same. Internaly the GLT's had different seats and i think steering wheel and maybe clocks. May well have missed some things.

To be honnest, I don't know. I feel that I should come clean and tell you that I don't know much about engines. Bodywork I am fine on. I should also tell you all that I am registered blind and therefore I am unable to drive my cars myself, so family and friends drive them for me and take me if I need to go somewhere.
I love my classics and have owned many, its like a drug that I can't seem to give up and I get so much enjoyment and satisfaction from them that it drives my wife mad. For this reason, we no longer live together, though we are very best friends, who will never split up. I have pictures of the engine that I took at the same time as the ones on the other thread, but I do not know how to downsize them to post on here. If you could tell from the pictures, I could e-mail them to you and maybe you could tell me if its injection. Thanks for your interest. Ian. |

Would be a lot of work to convert to injection, I would stick with the carb and make her look like a GLT.
Or you could buy this for £100 but its 4 door. http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=79814 Keith.. |

If I did buy that one, I could use all of the parts to convert mine to a glt. As I intend to realy go to town on mine, would the engine just swap streight over and how about the interior?
I will be having mine fully re-spreyed, so the engine will have to come out anyway. It sounds tempting. Ian. |
