Electric's is not my "thing" but I don't mind having a go so would one of you mind casting an eye at this little drawing to see if I'm correct before I blow myself up the weekend.

May have to get the help of an electrician friend for this one ..

Wiring in an after market sub seems a bit to simple to me, is it really as simple as it looks ?

That will make the Sub turn on, however you will need to extend the Fibre optic link to add in a extra loop to the new sub.... not surre if this can be done as the audio conponents all get checked at power on, maybe if you get MOST security diasble then it will work...

Time to call my electrician friend I think, he's a wizard with this sort of thing.

Edit.
I'm not able to see a fibre optic link on my sub, are you sure there is one on a 2004 XC90 ?

Here's a photo, sent to me by the guy I purchased the sub off. Just 4 wires to the sub as far as I can tell, will have a closer look the weekend.

They aren't wires.. Well, the red & black ones are, for power obviously, but the yellow ones are actually fibre optics, for carying the audio signal - I'd think that it would cause a problem if there are two sub modules on the line...

Good job my sparky friend is here having a few drinks.

Just explained to him what I want to do and he said he can do it.

He'll not be linking the subs using the fibre optics, instead he'll splice into the oringinal amp input and route that over to the amp input on the extra sub. Only the plug with the positive and negative wires will be used, as he will link the inputs of the amps to bypass the cars CAN sytem.

He made it sound simple, I'll let you know how things go the weekend ..

Popped out for 30 minutes and missed the delivery of the sub, so it wont be here until Monday.
