That's exactly what it is. My car being 96 means the new pump is correct. The spare pump that came with the car is wrong

Cheers

So here you can get a idea of what i mean. The plastic clamp has the pump in. Put some rope through the filler neck and around the pump clamp. That way you can pull on the rope to compress your assembly. Makes putting back in a lot easier. If your cap seal is in good condition a bit of vaseline helps it slide in better. Not being dirty lol.

Thanks Gareth

One other question. Does the little filter sock pull off when you fit pump into clamp ? Don't want to break anything before I start

Cheers, Mark

no the clamp has a hole at the bottom & hinge type hooks on either side so it can undo.

My car also came with a spare pump and I'm struggling to work out how it goes together. The small silver pump looks like it should go in the black plastic sleeve but I cant get it to go in.

I ordered the new Bosch one as I thought it would be better than fitting a second hand one that could fail again. Trouble is the Bosch one is much bigger and definitely wont fit in the plastic sleeve.

Having said all that I don't know what my pump is like as I haven't removed it yet. See attached pictures

Is the above any use to any earlier 940 or 740 owners ?
