Default Battery

I've got a 2.0tdci Galaxy (the Volvo's away for winter) which has a cold start issue. Struggles with the first cold start ie in a morning. Garage looked at it and the battery failed whatever test they did, they recharged it over night however the problem still remains! It's been back since and they advised me the battery is fine and has been retested. The car is new to me last month but second hand and has a three month warranty. The garag e are going to order a fuel cleaner from ford and run this through the system. I'm sceptical that their magic additive will work and suspect they don't want to spend too much cash fault finding or on parts, so I ran a multimeter over the car this morning and got 12.25v. A freebie from Kwik fit this afternoon gave these readings. Can I ask thoughts about the battery condit ion.

I would say it's dying.

I have just been through this with my 480GT - struggling to start, if left for more than 2 or 3 days wouldn't start, charged it up a couple of times and it seemed ok for about 48 hours.

New battery fitted - vast improvement!

I know it isn't your Volvo, but I shopped around and found the cheapest place for a quality battery was Volvo themselves. This was the case a few years ago too when I needed a new battery for a V40T4 (classic, not the new one); it might not be the same with Ford but I wouldn't rule out giving them a try!

Good luck!

David
