Same Engine (2.0D)
Hi all
Just found out that there's 2 2.0d engines for the V50 2.0D R-design Premium. One is 136bhp and the other is 176. Are they the same engine just mapped differently or are there mechanical differences?? If there the same then I'm tempted to put a map on mine. Pretty sure I have a 136 brake. Cheers

The 176 I would assume is the D4(?) engine which has an extra cylinder

Hmmm I thought the d4 is a 4 cylinder. The d5 is the five cylinder right??

There was some confusion with diesel engines names on pre and post FL models. I think on pre FL it was only D5 whether on FL models they started naming them D2, D3, D4, D5. D3 and D4 were I think the exactly same engine but with different components (compression, turbo, fuel delivery etc) hence differences. Pretty sure D4 was 4cylinder 177hp version, so D3 could possibly be its smaller 136hp sibling you are referring to?

Towards the end of the run they started to phase out the Ford engines.

Wait, so the 2011 D3 and D4 are actually 5 pot engines with 2.0L displacement?

I never knew there was any twin turbocharged volvos out there.
Also 170 would be nice. That's why I thought 2.0d was the same on both. I thought the 176bhp was just a remap. Looking for a nice t5/d5 next year though. Just waiting for my insurance to drop a bit. They laughed at me when I wanted a d5 insured. Been driving just over a year and a half
